Hello, Mr. (Mrs.) President March 4, 2008

So, I’ve been following the primaries today: those of Vermont, Ohio, Texas, and Rhode Island. I’ve been monitering the real-time results from the votes using a cool Google Maps mashup which shows the primary results on a map of the US, and updated from various sources. Alongside the delegates for each candidate (both Democratic and Republican) there is the number of votes by the people. More after the jump.

Out of curiosity, I tallied up both sides, only to find that the Republicans have, generously, 16 million votes as a combined total of all the major candidates. The Democratic candidates have over 26 million votes. I think I can safely say that we will probably have a Democratic president. Now the question is, Obama or Clinton?

UPDATE: I retract my previous statement. Upon reflecting on the presidential race up to this point, I have come to the conclusion that either side is still in the running. Who do you think should be the next president? Shout out in the comments.

Also, sorry I haven’t posted in a while. The joys of procrastination, eh?
